A what kind of home? What are you doing at the robin’s, bird, you know that sparrow thing?
I get these kind of questions all the time it is not always due to my braces and lisp. I thought I would spend a little bit of time telling you can expect from The Sparrow’s Nest in 2013.
The mission of THE SPARROW’S NEST is to provide a CHRIST centered shelter and to educate homeless, pregnant and parenting YOUNG WOMEN by providing a wide range of SERVICES that empower them to make positive and healthy LIFE decisions for themselves and their BABIES.
What this looks like day to day is teen mamas under the age of 18 living at The Nest 24/7. We will provide for all their needs while they continue their education, go to church, and learn how to be the best parent they can be. We will be a great beginning to a rough start.
Our vision for The Sparrow’s Nest is to simply have a house that we own to house four girls and their babies. It’s a lot more complicated than that but when it comes down to it we see teen mamas being cared for while they care for their precious babies.
Values:
Christ is the beginning, the middle, and the end of all we think, say, or do.
LIFE: All life is of extreme value. No matter how it was brought to us or how it leaves us we respect the Divine Creation from conception to death.
EXCELLENCE: We offer our best. Excellence in leadership, programming, service, and environment inspires the same in others.
INTEGRITY: We do not exist without a strong foundation of integrity.
INNOVATION: We honor innovation. We will not accept the status quo. We will strive to creatively find solutions. We believe in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances.
I can promise you we have not thought of everything. We take your questions and concerns as encouragement rather than a challenge. What we do have is the product of many hours of prayer, research, study, and conversations with those more knowledgeable.
This is who we are. Not who we intend to be or hope to be. But this is our DNA.
Before we even launch we have strong foundation from which to take flight.
