I love Psalms; how its rawness and honestly seeps into your heart. It truly shows how the Word of God is living and breathing in action.

As I was reading Psalm 136 I just had to smile because once again, I could relate. It goes like this:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
    for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
    for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who alone does great wonders,
for his steadfast love endures forever;

It continues like this for 26 verses; each verse ending in for his steadfast love endures forever. I can see this being written in two different ways:

One being in a thankful and praiseworthy way, joy had filled the writer and with a smile, he wrote of the great and mighty things his King has done.

The second being opposite; the writer is writing to remind himself of what the King has done and why He has done it. It may have been in the midst of a struggle; the writer trying desperately to remember that the God we serve loves us and does amazing things through that love.

When our lovely Executive Director asked what are some of the things that happened in 2017; my mind flooded with stories, accomplishments, changes, struggles, laughter, and LOVE. As Sparrow is growing and changing, as staff and residents come and go, through it all, there is one thing that never changes. Each and every instance that comes to mind, even the struggles, could be a verse that ends in for His steadfast love endures forever.

Today, I am thankful that the God who created the moon and stars and parted the Red Sea saw it fit to allow me the opportunity to be his hands and feet in a home where his steadfast love is shown every day and every hour.
