At the end of March, The Sparrow’s Nest sent out an invitation to please join us at a Prayer Gathering and Open House, and our wonderful Sparrow community answered. On Sunday, April 18, over 70 supporters gathered safely outside on the grounds of The Nest to pray for our imminent reopening.
The past six months have challenged Sparrow to rebuild and improve in so many ways. We could not have recalibrated without your extremely generous support. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, church and community leaders prayed together for The Nest to reemerge from this pause stronger than ever.

Following prayer, we hosted an Open House of The Nest. Included in our improvements during this pause, The Nest has been undergoing renovations to make the house more comfortable for our mothers and their babies. We have been able to renovate The Nest through the hard work and dedication of many churches, organizations, and individuals.
We are grateful to River City Church, Life Church St. Peters, First Baptist Church St. Charles, Joy Community Church, Mueller Furniture, Abby Puckett, Sonya Umbeck, Catherine Sullivan, Steve Gorman, Jeff Lawson, Kelly Clark, and many others who have blessed us with their talent and dedication to making The Nest a brighter place to find hope and healing.

Community Awareness Coordinator Kim McKnight has been moved by people’s support for The Nest during this pause and especially at the Prayer Gathering. “What a blessing to have so many people join us this past Sunday as we prayed for The Nest. My heart was so full as I sat in the back and looked at all the people who not only had a hand in helping physically refresh the Nest, but who chose to give up a Sunday afternoon to come and pray with us,” exclaimed McKnight. “I feel so blessed to have had a front row seat over the past few months as I’ve watched God provide so many people to do so many things. It has been like getting a big hug from the community. Then, how sweet to be able to gather and both thank God for His blessings on the Nest and seek His continued favor over this sanctuary for teen mamas. It was absolutely beautiful.”
This gathering of Sparrow supporters from homes, organizations, and churches all over our area embodies the vast network of love and assistance that we have experienced, especially during this pause. Thank you for always being champions for The Sparrow’s Nest. With your support and God’s love, we will be reopening soon!
