I remember when my dear friend Kelley Grant was preparing to leave a career in banking to become a missionary in Santiago, Chile. I asked him what he would be able to share with the people in that country that would make a difference in their lives. I’ll never forget what he said.

I can’t really tell them what Jesus will do for them. I can only really tell them what Jesus has done for me.

I can’t tell you how Christ will change the lives of the young women coming soon through our doors. I just know it will. No matter how long they live at The Sparrow’s Nest, no matter where they have come from or what they have gone through, I believe in the transforming power of Christ.

I only know this because I have experienced this beautiful love, grace, mercy over and over everyday of my life. I am a trainwreck of a life who has seen it’s share of depression, despair, loneliness, anguish, and confusion. I have denounced Christ in both word and action. I have broken the heart of my Lord and Savior too many times. Yet His arms are always open to me. As a daughter of a king, this Pig Pen Princess climbs up into the lap of her Heavenly Daddy anytime, rest her head on the chest of power and listen to a heart that beats peace. No matter what I do. No matter what I don’t do. No matter what is going on around me. I have the hope that this earth as we know it is not my final resting ground and I have the promise of eternal salvation in heaven.

God’s gift of Christ has changed my life by filling it with unending hope.

How had God’s gift of Christ changed your life?
